OnePlus Optimised Android TV On The OnePlus TV, Says Company

OnePlus has recently been talking about something other than a phone. The OnePlus TV is coming soon and CEO Pete Lau has been teasing it a lot.

In his latest post about the TV, Lau talks about how the work they have done with Google on Android TV will benefit the entire platform.

Lau talks about how companies that make TVs don’t typically focus on the same features as phone makers. OnePlus released the OnePlus 7 Pro with a heavy focus on the “fast and smooth” 90Hz display, which is as much about hardware as it is software. They are taking that same philosophy to the OnePlus TV.

OnePlus is not able to modify Android TV as much as they can modify Android on phones, but Lau tells India Today that there will be some differences in the Android TV OS on the OnePlus TV. “We have been able to work with Google on Android TV OS for the OnePlus TV and we have made improvements and optimizations that we believe are going to be part of the core of the software.” It’s true that Android TV can feel a bit sluggish at times, so any improvement there will be welcomed by everyone.

The last thing Lau boasts about is how their strong partnership with Google allows them to offer OnePlus TV users updates for at least 3 years. Now, on the surface, this sounds pretty good, but if you stop and think about the lifespan of a TV, it’s not that impressive. People are starting to keep phones for close to 3 years and TVs last much longer than that. Three years is a good start, but a TV needs longer support than a phone.

OnePlus 7 Pro To Come With 6.67- Inch 90Hz Notch- less Full Screen Display

OnePlus is ready to launch its latest OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro smartphones on May 14th. The company has lately been teasing the features of OnePlus 7 Pro through ads, newspapers, short videos or images. It is said to have a big 6.67-inch notch-less full-screen display with the 90Hz refresh rate. Now, the company has confirmed the same information.

Matt Swider has posted a few images on Twitter, that shows a teaser poster from OnePlus. The device will reportedly sport a Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display. Last month, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau indicated that the next-generation device will offer a “Fast and Smooth” experience. Emphasizing more on the display, OnePlus CEO said, “A whole new display which has to be seen to be believed.”

He also revealed that OnePlus is spending three times more than the older flagship displays. Additionally, the 90Hz refresh rate would also help offer users a much smoother experience mostly in terms of gaming. The handset is also said to offer a curved display, as per leaked images. Besides, the OnePlus 7 Pro might arrive in Nebula Blue, Mirror Grey and Almond color options.

It is likely to be powered by Qualcomm’s top-notch Snapdragon 855 chipset. If rumors are to be believed, we will get to see a triple camera setup at the back, which will include a 48-megapixel primary camera. To achieve a notch-less display, the handset will offer a pop-up selfie camera mechanism. The front will reportedly house a 16-megapixel sensor for capturing selfies.

The OnePlus 7 Pro is said to be backed by a large 4,000mAh battery and support 30W Warp Charge. The OnePlus 7, on the other hand, will be a toned down version of the OnePlus 7 Pro. It could pack a 6.2-inch Full HD+ AMOLED notched display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. It is tipped to boasts of a dual rear camera setup and a single camera on the front. It could house a slightly larger 4,150mAh battery and support 30W Warp charge. Both the smartphones are expected to ship with Android 9 Pie out of the box.

OnePlus 7 Pro To Have Fast UFS 3.0 Storage, Launch To Take Place Next Week

The OnePlus 7 Pro leaks were seen in a huge possible way several weeks before its launch. Almost all aspects of the smartphone are available on the web which will be launched next week. However, there are chances that the leaked information might be inaccurate.

OnePlus, though, has confirmed two new features on the OnePlus 7 Pro, both of which already mark it in the ultra-premium flagship category.

OnePlus has been talking a lot of a great deal about the display on the OnePlus 7 Pro and one of the features that put it on par with other 2019 flagship phones is the inclusion of HDR10+. The OnePlus 7 Pro will be able to support HDR10+ content. HDR10+ certified displays produce 4000 nits of peak brightness, which is a massive increase of 3,000 nits compared to HDR10. This means that not only the display will support rich colours and vibrant contrasts compared to conventional displays, it will also be quite bright.

With support for HDR10+, the OnePlus 7 Pro could prove itself to be an ideal way to consumer content on the go. Leaks have already suggested that this phone will come with a massive 6.67-inch Quad HD+ display with a refresh rate of 90Hz.

Apart from the display, OnePlus has been focusing on the ‘fast and smooth’ mantra for the OnePlus 7 Pro. One of the reasons for that, as OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirms, is the faster UFS 3.0 storage. Most flagship Android smartphones use UFS 2.1 storage. With the UFS 3.0 storage, the OnePlus 7 Pro should aid faster read and write speeds, which should eventually speed up app opening times.

With the OnePlus 7 Pro, the company is trying to aim for the flagship smartphone category. The leaks have given out the expected the prices, which if believed, could give OnePlus a chance to take out the iPhone XR and Samsung’s Galaxy S10e. For these prices, OnePlus seems to have the advantage with specifications again, with a superior fullscreen display, a better set of cameras, powerful Snapdragon 855 chipset and a premium build.

OnePlus will unveil the OnePlus 7 Pro on May 14 at an event in Bengaluru along with the ‘standard’ OnePlus 7.
